GOP Sen. Joni Ernst said that President Donald Trump’s trips to Florida have been “bothering” her, and she called on Trump to “spend more time in Washington.” She made these remarks at an Iowa town hall meeting with constituents when asked about the president’s frequent trips to his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Trump has spent seven out of the 13 weekends since his inauguration at Mar-a-Lago and visited various other Trump properties on other weekends.

“That’s what we have the White House for. We would love to see more of those State Department visits in Washington, DC. I think it’s smart that he does business in Washington DC, so I’ve had those same concerns myself,” Ernst said.
She added: “I have not spoken to him about the Florida issue yet, but that is something I think that has been bothering not just me, but some other members of our caucus. So I think that is going to be a topic of discussion that we have when we get back to Washington.”
White House press secretary Sean Spicer spoke to CNN about Ernst’s remarks and said they would not affect Trump’s future plans.
While Ernst supported Trump during his election campaign, she’s been increasingly vocal in her criticism. According to Politico, she has even called on the president to release his tax returns.
