On Sunday, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop scrutinized the comments by U.S. President Donald Trump on French first lady Brigitte Macron’s look.
“You’re in such good shape,” Trump was filmed on Thursday telling the first lady during his first state visit to France.
“I wonder if she could say the same of him?” Bishop told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation when questioned whether she would be complimented or insulted if the comment were aimed at her.
“I’d be taken aback, I think. It’s a rather interesting comment to make,” she added.
Bishop refused further comment on the Paris comment, but added an involuntary observation on Trump’s aggressive use of social media, saying she wouldn’t “run a commentary on his Twitter account.”
The critique follows a January call between Trump and the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull when the POTUS hung up after 25 minutes rather than the scheduled one hour.
