On a humanitarian level, most lawmaking Democrats on their worst days, far exceed most Republican lawmakers — on their best days. Even if I don’t care for the Democratic candidate who eventually gets nominated, even if I can’t stand the sound of that person’s voice — I refuse to give my vote, by default, to the Republican Party. When I hear a progressive say they’re not voting unless their candidate choice wins, I’m stunned. By not voting, we are helping the Right to win. We are essentially giving our vote to them. The American economy continued to grow at an impressive rate last month, with employers adding a better-than-expected 242,000 jobs and unemployment remaining below 5% for the second month in a row. To most logical, thinking people, the economic good news, and the years of steady job growth and rising employment that have preceded it, are a vindication of President Obama’s economic policies that brought the country out of the Great Recession.
