President Donald Trump bragged about starting the construction of the “Southern Border Wall”, and posted pictures to show work in progress.

So Like most things Trump, this wall is nowhere near as impressive as he makes it sound…nor is it the wall.
In fact, it’s not a wall at all. It’s a 30-foot fence:
The new fence was also planned for quite a while. In fact, it was prioritized in 2009, during Barack Obama’s first term. Officials clarified that the new fence is not part of Trump’s campaign promise.
“We just wanted to get out in front of it and let everybody know that this is a local tactical infrastructure project that was planned for quite some time,” David Kim, assistant chief patrol agent for the Border Patrol’s El Centro sector, told the Desert Sun last month.
The two-mile border fence in Calexico, California will cost about $18 million, according to The Los Angeles Times. In the omnibus budget, Trump could only secure another $1.6 billion for border security, and mostly for projects like this, repairing or installing fenced and levees.
Trump calling this the start of construction of his Border Wall is also him trying to save face after he declared an “all or nothing” stance just one month ago:
