The Trump family always wants to win! There is no end to their plow when it comes to winning. The Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards’ new book, “Make Trouble: Standing Up, Speaking Out, and Finding the Courage to Lead,” has exposed an incriminating information about the Trump family.
Richards and her husband Kirk Adams, met with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump in early 2017. She reportedly said, “even if there was only a sliver of a chance of changing anyone’s mind, I owed it to Planned Parenthood patients to at least take the meeting.”
Knowing that the meeting with Kushner and Trump would likely became precarious, Richards decided to come along with husband because “[she]felt she needed a witness.”
In one except from her book, Richards explains how the meeting played out. “The main issue, he explained, was abortion. If Planned Parenthood wanted to keep our federal funding, we would have to stop providing abortions. He described his ideal outcome: a national headline reading “Planned Parenthood Discontinues Abortion Services.”
Kushner alluded to the possibility of Planned Parenthood receiving more federal funding, but only if they would end all abortion services. Kushner and Trump came to that meeting with a headline in mind and a figurative check to write — but only if Cecile Richards caved in.
“If it wasn’t crystal clear before, it was now,” Richards writes in her book. “Jared and Ivanka were there for one reason: to deliver a political win,” she writes. “In their eyes, if they could stop Planned Parenthood from providing abortions, it would confirm their reputation as savvy dealmakers. It was surreal, essentially being asked to barter away women’s rights for more money. It takes a lot to get Kirk mad, but it looked like his head was about to explode.”
Obviously Cecile Richards didn’t comply with Kushner and Trump’s demands; she remains as energized as ever to speak out and make change in the realm of women’s rights and their access to health care. And when asked about her feelings on the administration, particularly given her unethical meeting with Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, Richards said what many Americans have been thinking:
“I will tell you this White House has been worse for women than any administration I’ve seen in my lifetime.”
