WATCH: Sean Spicer Just Called Nazi Death Camps ‘Holocaust Centers,’ Said Hitler Didn’t Use Gas to Kill Jews

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer’s latest gaffe is up there with the worst. In a press briefing earlier today, Spicer compared Assad to Hitler and referred to Nazi extermination camps as “Holocaust centers.” To add insult to injury, he made these comments during the Jewish festival of Passover.

As he bumbled through his attempt to condemn Russia’s support of Bashar Assad’s regime following the horrific nerve gas attack on civilians last week, Spicer made the following comment:

We didn’t even use chemical weapons in World War II. …You had a — you know someone as despicable as Hitler who didn’t even sink to using chemical weapons.

Incredulous journalists then tried to point out that Hitler in fact used gas chambers in death camps to exterminate millions of Jews during the Holocaust. When asked by ABC News’ White House correspondent Cecila Vega to clarify his comments, Spicer tried to walk back on his earlier statement, but he failed miserably and ended up referring to Nazi extermination camps (such as Auschwitz, presumably) as “Holocaust centers.”

When it comes to sarin gas, he [Hitler] was not using the gas on his own people the same way that Assad is doing. … I understand your point. Thank you. I appreciate that. He brought them into the Holocaust centers, I understand that.
