Trump’s Justice Department just cleared Hillary Clinton of any wrongdoing in “Uranium One” deal

This one will surely bite President Donald Trump! Remember that Hillary Clinton was alleged to have  ties to the Uranium One deal that Trump and the GOP have been talking about since the 2016 campaign.

Democrats revealed today that a whistleblower alleged to have provided key testimony incriminating Clinton in the deal actually never even mentioned her to the FBI.

The issue in question is the 2010 sale of a uranium company with US holdings to a Russian  firm. GOP conspiracy theorists including Trump have accused Hillary Clinton of approving the deal as Secretary of State in exchange for donations to the Clinton Foundation.

Dems said today that in a December 15 briefing, justice department officials told them that not only was Clinton never mentioned by the whistleblower William Campbell, he was too unreliable for his testimony to mean anything anyway. His stories didn’t line up.

“The Department of Justice has now provided us with a detailed briefing that directly contradicts these Republican allegations,” Elijah Cummings (Md.) and Adam Schiff (Calif.), top Democrats on the House Oversight and Intelligence Committees wrote in a letter to the republican chairmen.

Mother Jones soundly countered just about every claim in the Uranium One conspiracy, which first surfaced in a 2015 New York Times article.

The deal was approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US, which is made up of representatives from nine different agencies – State Department being just one. Clinton didn’t even represent the department in the deal, it was the assistant secretary of state for economic, energy and business affairs, Jose Fernandez. There’s no confirmation he ever even told her about this deal.
