This year’s White House Easter Egg Roll was painful to watch, especially thanks to Donald Trump being Donald Trump. It’s always a weird mix of fun and uncomfortable to watch Trump try to play president.
The event was supposed to be a lighthearted affair mainly for children to mark Easter, Trump couldn’t help adding a few braggadocious remarks to his short speech.
“We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before,” he said. “We’re right on track. You see what’s happening, and we are right on track.”
The most cringeworthy moment came shortly afterwards, when the national anthem played. First Lady Melania Trump had to nudge her husband to remind him to put his hand over his heart. Because he forgot.
That’s a subtle nudge from Melania to remind Trump to lift his hand during the national anthem… https://t.co/P9XlYpjvcQ

So Trump’s 11-year-old son and foreign-born wife knew how to comport themselves, but the president, who ran on an “America First” platform, forgot?
